OIL PAINTINGS
Focused primarily on oil paint, my studio art projects are a big part of who I am, as a creative. I started studio art when I was only a child but my true love for it has developed immensely since discovering oil painting two years ago.

01
Brent Faiyez
Inspired by one of my favorite RnB artists, Brent Faiyez, this was my second oil painting to date. I wanted to practice creating realistic portraits and focus on different hair textures.

SZA
One of my biggest artist inspirations of all time, SZA is the embodiment of how beautiful female rage can be. This oil painting is my biggest canvas and third overall to date.

The Risen Within The Fallen;
Visual of Kanye West
The risen and the fallen are usually viewed as two separate entities, but I view them as one and the same. You cannot become one without the other, so many people fear being either. For better or for worse, I made this visual of the duality of man with the use of Kanye West, making it my fourth oil painting to date.
This is the smallest project I’ve painted with the face being equal in size to a quarter. I wanted to practice using fewer details by taking away my ability to make more.

Veiw From Above
This small acrylic painting is a visual of one of my biggest fears, space. The darkness, the emptiness, and the unknown of it all have always been a scary thought to me, so I wanted to humanize it. I did this by painting a glimpse of the earth from the moon. I glimpse of humanity within a sea of darkness.

Sketchbook Berries
When I don't have time to paint on at large scale, I like to work in my sketchbook. These two pages were my first attempt at gouache paint, which is a kind of combination of watercolor and acrylic paint types. It forces you to create more details with less layers, which is great practic for myself being a slight perfectionist.

Natural Hair
Highlighting the beauty of the natural woman, I created this piece. The Western beauty standards not only create unrealistic expectations for all women, but they specifically target minority women who can't even try to reach "the standards" without severely damaging their hair. I wanted to focus on the idea of natural curls and how truly beautiful they are despite Western beauty standards.

My Stolen Self Portrait
Over 60 hours of work put into something I’ll never get to finish. My first oil painting and second art piece stolen to date. Being my biggest and longest art project ever, it’s been really discouraging to feel like all my work went to waste, but I still wanted to post the progress I got because I was really proud of it, even not at 100%.
